The 2001 Halloween Social

Most of us will agree that Halloween is a very fun day and, as you will see, we like to make a big deal about it so we had a special social. Mostly every one came in fancy dress we had witches joined at the hips, skeletons, the Grim Reaper coming out of a crypt (that John had made), the Devil, a sorceress (Lynda), a grave stone and even Uncle Fester showed up! It was very, very exciting every one danced happily and enjoyed them selves thoroughly!

When we did a dance called the "Electric Slide" it was not to our normal music, instead we did it to Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' and in the middle of the song the crypt door opened and the Grim Reaper stepped out and ran around the stage, into the audience and the dance floor tormenting folk and scaring people out of their wits!! but still no one knows who it was and at the end of the dance s/he went back into the crypt and was never seen again!!!

Most of the fun was due to the amazing and life like scenery made by John and Lynda and the decorations that we had put up earlier on in the day. These gave a great effect and wonderful atmosphere to the whole evening. Thanks to every one who took part and helped it wouldn't have happened it wasn't for you!!

The American Extravaganza 2002

The American Extravaganza 2002 was a big hit and saw people from all around the globe coming together to have fun and enjoy the long weekend, which was Friday to Sunday, and I hope every one that went had a good time and a safe journey home.

The weekend began with every one arriving at the show ground during the day on Friday. There were a few options of accommodation: one could stay in a hotel/B&B, a motor home/caravan or one could stay in a tent, which is what my family and I decided to do. The first day was a very mixed one, we spent the first few hours setting up our tents and getting to know our neighbours (by the way, a very big “Hello!” to Simon and co.). Later on we decided to go line dancing! It was around 7pmwhen we got into the hall, we danced for ages and ages not even noticing the time, but alas when the clock struck 11:30pm (ish) we decided to call it a night and go back to our tents.

On Saturday morning we had an early start waking up at about 8:15am, and what better way to be woken up than by the sound of a big Harley Davidson motorcycle revving up it’s engine?!? After a real camper’s breakfast which- for my family- consisted of bacon sandwiches, sausages and a cup of tea, we went down to the main hall to do some more line dancing for about 3 hrs and then went off to one of the vans for some lunch. We spent over 2 hrs, after lunch, looking at the stalls where Mum managed to buy some new cowboy boots and I –keeping in the western theme- brought the Alice Cooper box set (yippee for me!!). We decided to go back to our camp for dinner and to get changed for ‘one wild night’ dancing! We arrived at the dance hall at about 7pm and, after struggling to find a seat, settled down for a fantastic night dancing, having fun and meeting new friend. The evening went extremely well, the live bands) were excellent and we were sorry to see it come to an end (even thought it was about 12:30am when it finally finished!).

Sunday was the last day of the festival, and the morning was spent packing up the camp and getting ready to go home. We spent the afternoon doing yet more dancing in the hall (although we were absolutely shattered as you can see from the top picture.). At about we decided to call it a day and go home.

I would like to thank the organizers, and everyone involved, for making the long weekend possible it was a fantastic weekend and I can hardly wait until next years!!! So cheers to you all.
